ADAM-4000 Series Used in Petrochemical Application

A developer of fuel mass balance systems, was looking for a solution to supervise the conditions of fuel ducts and provide a fast and precise alarm intervention system in the event of field instrument failure. They chose Advantech's ADAM-4000 converter and acquisition modules to accommodate to their system reliability and maintenance requirements. Advantech successfully targeted their needs with ADAM-4018M, ADAM-4052, ADAM-4080, ADAM-4541, ADAM-4550, and IPC-610.

Advantech's ADAM-4000 solution not only allowed them to collect multiple-length process signals, but also enhanced the reliability, security, and precision of the process.

Project Background:
This system allows the operator to supervise the conditions of fuel ducts and provides a fast and precise alarm intervention system in the event of field instrument failure.

Project Requirements:
The client needs to gather multiple length process signals (1km, 2.5km to 10km).
Converter modules and acquisitions modules of ADAM-4000 series were
adopted to accommodate the projects requirements.

Solution Adopted:
The ADAM-4018M module was used to acquire and store data ranging from Density, Pressure to Temperature. The ADAM-4052 was adopted to retrieve the status updates and the ADAM-4080 to measure the flow through pulse signs
For distances below 1200 meters, RS-485 direct links were required. For
distances between 1200 and 2500 meters, fiber-optic links were
established through pairs of ADAM-4541 modules. As for distances
between 2500 and 10000 meters, radio links were employed through pairs of ADAM-4550 and antenna specifications.
In the Control Room, the Advantech IPC-610 runs SCADA software to
monitor and control the whole pipeline system.
