	Advantech Extends Ethernet Data Gateway Family for Rear Wiring Requirements

Advantech has released two more products to its Ethernet Data Gateway Family. EDG-4508R+ and EDG-4516R+ connects up to 8/16 RS-232/422/485 devices to an Ethernet network for easier access and remote management. Each serial port has rear wiring with 15,000 Vesd protection against static electricity. This makes it suitable for applications in telecommunications, factory automation, SCADA systems, warehouse control, building automation, self-service banking systems and large-scale retail systems.


	ADAM-4016/4017/4018/5013/5017/5017H/5018 Extends its Features with TVS & ESD Protection Enhancement

The ADAM-4016/4017/4018/5013/5017/5017H/5018 analog input modules are now equipped with Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection. This enhancement improves field safety and shields the modules from Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) bursts of up to 1.0 KV.


	High-Density Industrial Wiring Boards released by Advantech

Advantech announced today the release of two wiring boards. PCLD-8751 has 48 isolated digital input channels, while PCLD-8761 has 24 relay channels and 24 isolated digital input channels. Both terminal boards link directly to high-density TTL digital input/output cards that are compatible with Advantech??s PCI-1751, PCI-1753 and PCI-1753E. These wiring boards are well suited for compact applications that need high reliability and high voltages.


	Advantech Launches New Economical Industrial Workstation

Advantech has extended its Industrial Workstation Series with the new AWS-8100G. Advantech provides a series of powerful industrial workstations with open architecture that incorporates widely used PC technology for industrial platforms. The compact and heavy duty industrial workstations are specially designed to meet needs across diverse industrial applications.


	Advantech Introduces the Heavy-Duty FPM-3150G and the Stylish FPM-2150GA

Advantech today introduced two new industrial-grade 15" flat panel monitors for different user applications. The heavy-duty FPM-3150G offers a stainless steel chassis and a NEMA4/IP65-compliant aluminum front panel for protection against dust and jets of water. The panel has an anti-reflective screen with tempered glass to resist breakage and temperature variations. Furthermore, the hard anodic coating prevents the panel from abrasion and acid corrosion.


	Ethernet Switches Offer Easy Access and Temperature Resistance for Harsh Environments

Advantech now offers two more industrial-grade Ethernet switches: The EDG-6528 and the EDG-6528I provide fast and cost-effective expansion of industrial Ethernet networks with their eight 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports. Both models are suitable for critical applications in environments with extreme temperatures. Boasting support for a wide voltage range, flexible screw terminal design, redundant power supply, surge protection and DIN-rail mounting, EDG products are the reliable choice for industrial Ethernet networks.


			APPLICATIONS


	Machine Automation

In collaboration with an industry-leading semiconductor manufacturing supplier, an integrator recognized the significant potential of combining the strengths of the Linux operating system with the power of the Advantech line of computing. The integrator utilizes Advantech HMI platforms to create consistent, cost-effective, user-friendly touch panel interfaces for critical tools.


UNO-2160 in Mobile License Plate Recognition System
	Because of its reliable design and excellent vibration resistance, UNO-2160 was chosen for a mobile License Plate Recognition (LPR) system. The system also makes use of ADAM-4055 for power management, and is equipped with a Global Position System (GPS) module, add-on video input, real-time Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software and wireless connectivity via GPRS/CDMA/WLAN. Patrol cars were equipped with the LPR system to process observed license plate numbers through a central database of stolen cars at the headquarters.
